Ivo Karlovic won the Los Cabos Open title in Mexico with a 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 victory over Feliciano Lopez.

The 37-year-old from Croatia has been in fine form in recent weeks and was playing in his third final in four events.

And the third seed improved his record to 14-2 in his last 16 matches after claiming a hard-fought first set in a tie-break before comfortably taking the second for his second ATP Tour title of the year and eighth overall.

Karlovic had previously beaten Gilles Muller in the final at Newport, Rhode Island, before losing to Gael Monfils in Washington.

With the hardcourt victory at Solaz Resort & Spa Los Cabos, the third-seeded Karlovic improved to 14-2 in his last 16 matches and upped his career record against Lopez to 6-3.

Top-seeded Spaniard Lopez, 34, missed a chance to claim his second title of the year, following his win in Gstaad last month, and sixth overall.
