MYSURU: The four-laning of National Highway 212 stretch between Mysuru and Nanjangud, which was delayed by three months due to land litigation and shifting of high-tension wire at the newly constructed Kabini Bridge, will be completed by next month.
The widening is expected to reduce travelling time in this route by 15 minutes, besides easing traffic for those travelling from the city to Calicut and Ooty.

The completion of widening of stretch between Gundulpet and Nanjangud has also made travel to Ooty and Kerala easier.
The Union government, took up the NH 212 road work from Kerala border - Kollegal section as a project of the Engineering Procurement Constructions, on July1, 2014. While most of the stretch would be 10 metres wide, 27 kms from Nanjangud to Mysuru would be of four lanes with 22.5 metres width, and with a median.
Almost 90% of the project, which includes two major and 28 smaller bridges, has been completed. The work along the Mysuru- T Narasipur - Kollegal section has now been undertaken to widen the road from present 5.5 metres to 10mtrs.
Expressing confidence that work would be completed by September, Dhruvanarayan, MP, Chamarajanagar said, "Though work was to be completed by June, almost 95% of the work has been completed. The total cost of the 129.45km-project is Rs 419 crore."
