The first women’s helpdesk in Gurgaon district was inaugurated at the Manesar police station by Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk Saturday.
The helpdesk will be under a woman sub-inspector and two other women officers between 9 am and 5 pm each day, and will provide women with help in all police-related work.
Speaking at the event, Virk said the government was taking the issue of women’s safety very seriously.
He said local residents would benefit greatly because they would no longer have to travel to Gurgaon to report crimes against women, since they could seek assistance at the Manesar police station.
“The appointed police officials will provide all legal assistance to people,” said Virk.
