Naidu goes hammer and tongs at YSR Congress

August 14, 2016 02:17 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:40 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday went all out against the Opposition YSRCP for placing obstacles in each and every development programme taken by the government and likened its actions to that of a “unmadi” (maniac).

To a question from a media person, Mr. Naidu looked upset and angry at YSRCP and its leader, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wondering what one would call a person who provokes people to throw slippers at an elected Chief Minister and opposes capital construction. “When I am working hard for all-round development and progress of the State, we have Opposition whose only job is to oppose everything. If not a maniac how else do you describe a party which goes to Supreme Court against the construction of a capital.”

Mr. Naidu was reacting to the Supreme Court verdict on Friday dismissing the petition seeking CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the location and construction of the capital.

“Is it not a fact that YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is behind the petitioner [A.B.K. Prasad]. We are doing our best to take the State forward but the YSRC is trying to create problems for the government to further its interests. But we will remain steadfast in taking the State on the path to progress,” he asserted, pointing out similar efforts were made to throw a spanner in the Pattiseema project works by causing a breach. They have a negative mind and go to any extent to create trouble, he said.

Who knows they can even do something during the ongoing Krishna Pushkarams as it is going on in a smooth manner, which is not to their liking. Now that the Supreme Court has given its verdict, he hoped better sense would prevail on them and they would learn a lesson. Mr. Naidu said the State government was making rapid strides in development. Its initiatives on the power generation and conservation front, the fibre grid, inter-linking of rivers and other programmes were helping in solving the problems faced by people and hoped that the people would appreciate the difficult circumstances under which the government was functioning.

After the media conference, the Chief Minister presented a demonstration of the operation of drones, CCTV cameras and other paraphernalia deployed for monitoring the conduct of the Krishna Pushkaram as a pilot project on Internet-of-Things (IoT).
