CHANDIGARH: A Yamunanagar-based rape survivor hailing from the Dalit community was rushed to the PGIMER, Chandigarh, on Saturday after she was allegedly injected with poison by one of the four men she had accused of raping her, and his two accomplices.

On Wednesday morning, the girl was alone at her house when the rape accused, Anil, and his friends Sunil and Rajesh allegedly entered it and injected her with a poisonous substance. They have been booked in a case registered at Farookhnagar police station in Yamunanagar.
In her statement to the magistrate, the girl alleged that while Rajesh hit her with a log, Anil and Sunil injected the poision into her. Sources said her family members rushed her to the hospital. As her condition deteriorated, she was rushed to Chandigarh.
In July, the girl had got a rape case registered against Anil, and his accomplices Monu, Rajender and Ranjana. She had alleged that Anil and Rajender had raped her, while Monu and Ranjana helped them in committing the crime. The victim alleged that since the registration of FIR, she was under pressure to withdraw the case.
However, sources in Yamunangar police said there could be other issues linked to the case as the victim had defaulted in the repayment of a loan and was facing arrests warrants in a case of cheque bounce. Farookh Nagar station house officer (SHO) Subhash Chand said police were making efforts to arrest the accused.
