IIT Gandhinagar: 180 students to clean Kalupur Railway Junction

The program is based on the themes of ethics, creativity, leadership, social awareness and sports. “The Programme aims to holistically educate the students, making the students aware and responsible for the society, at large, paves the way for socio-centric innovations,” Professor Umashankar Singh, IITGN Faculty and one of the coordinators of Programme this year, said.

The students will engage in the the cleaning activity between 8 am – 10 am. They will be accompanied by faculty members of the institute.

This activity has been planned in collaboration with Western Railways. “The cleanliness drive will involve our students cleaning up areas usually not taken care of by cleaning staff such as sorting of garbage in bins and spreading the message of keeping our environment clean,” Singh said.

After the exercise, the students, faculty and railway officials will engage in a discussion and conclude with the national anthem.

On August 8, the Institute had hosted its fifth convocation ceremony. A total of 114 B.Tech students, 79 M.Tech students, 23 Ph.D students, 30 M.Sc. students, 12 M.A. students and four PG DIIT students were awarded degrees on the occasion. In addition, 43 medals and awards for academic, sports, leadership and community service were awarded to graduating students.
