Mariah Carey Says Her Kids Need Their Own Reality TV Show

Mariah Carey certainly knows how to maintain the spotlight and keep onlookers aware as to why the world knows her to be such a diva. It was only a matter of time that Carey would find herself on her very own reality show which showcases a day in the life of a superstar diva. It was clear following her time on the hit show American Idol that Carey was not one to share the limelight. She and Nicki Minaj were combative for attention over the duration of Season 12 of the program, and Mariah has since relayed that it was not her cup of tea, calling her time there “abusive.”

Earlier this week, American Idol contestants responded to Carey terming the show “abusive” and were shocked by this description by the diva. One such contestant from Season 12 is Lazaro Arbos, who claimed that Carey was treated like a goddess by the show’s producers despite the feud with Minaj, as Billboard shares.

“I’m honestly shocked she said that, because of all the times we were on the set filming and even when we got to the live shows she was always treated with respect and courtesy from the producers. I think Nigel really admired her talent and always treated her like the queen and the legend that she is.”

The star is about to make her debut as the queen of her own program in Mariah’s World, and it seems that her love for the spotlight is rubbing off on her children.

Carey shares that her children, twins Moroccan and Monroe, 5, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon, are so hilarious that they really should have their own program. When asked about the role the cuties will play in the diva’s reality show, Carey stated that she really isn’t quite sure how much screen time they will see. People relays the words of the star and gives details about Carey and Cannon’s decisions about their children’s involvement.

“‘They can have their own show because that’s how funny they are,’ the proud mom, 46, told reporters at a TCA panel promoting the E! show. Though dad Nick Cannon has been ‘very supportive’of their children being featured on the show, the former couple is still figuring out ‘mutually’ how big a role they will play.

Mariah also shares how her twins love being on stage like their mommy.

“The truth is, they jump on the stage when they can. The answer is we’re still in the process of putting everything together.”

Carey makes note of the fact that her 5-year-old children, although still just babies, have seen more of the world than most adults have.

“I try to have them do as many activities that they can that aren’t just like, the iPad. I spend time with them. We travel together. I take them to different places. They love traveling.”

There is certainly something to be said for children having real life experiences void of computers and gadgets. The singer also makes it known that although her schedule is hectic due to her touring and her residency on the Vegas strip, along with the reality show, she tries her hardest to keep Moroccan and Monroe’s schedule as consistent as possible. Mariah additionally shares that her little ones have already taken to music but that she is definitely not forcing them to be involved in music against their own wishes.

“Yesterday, my son was being the deejay. Miss Monroe has a really, really good ear for music and a really beautiful tone, but I can’t force her to sing, so if she wants to sing, she’ll sing. I encourage her because it’s a great outlet.”
