Rudhramadevi, which chron icled the life and times of erstwhile Kakatiya ruler Rani Rudramadevi, has received awards and accolades at several award ceremonies this year. And now, a recent update has taken the reputation of the film a notch higher. It has been learnt that the Film Federation of India has recommended the Anushka-starrer as India's Oscar submission in the category of the Best Foreign Language Film Award.
The film's director Gunasekhar confirmed the news on social media, saying, 'Film Federation Of India RECOMMENDED #Rudhramadevi for the #OscarAward in the category of `Best Foreign Language Film Award'. (sic) That is, if it manages to beat entries from across the country to clinch the slot. Interestingly , only one Telugu film has been sent as an official entry so far. Director K Viswanath's Swathi Muthyam starring Kamal Haasan and Radhika in lead roles, around 30 years ago.
