Plea to register case

August 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:13 am IST - MADURAI:

The Madras High Court Bench in Madurai has directed Devakottai police in Sivaganga district to register a First Information Report if a cognisable offence had been made out in a complaint lodged against a married couple accused of having cheated a physically challenged person to the tune of Rs. 8 lakh by misusing the name of DMK leader M. Kanimozhi in 2011. Justice S. Vimala passed the order on a petition filed by S. Rajarathinam who claimed to have paid the money to one Saravanan and his wife Meenal after they promised to get him the job of Village Administrative Officer. He alleged that the couple had not failed to get him the job but also threatened him with dire consequences when he insisted upon returning the money.
