VADODARA: A student of Parul University committed suicide at his residence in Gotri on Thursday. Twenty-one-year-old Ankit Shah hung himself in his room on the first floor of house. Police said his family was on the ground floor when he took the extreme step. Shah, a third-year student of electrical engineering, also left a suicide note behind.
Police said Shah was reportedly depressed as he wasn't performing well in academics.
"He had failed in the past academic year and had to take a drop for one year. He was not happy with his academic performance over last few months. His father told us that he used to be frustrated at times," said Laxminagar police inspector, K P Jadeja. The police said he got his results of fourth semester recently wherein he had got ATKT in four subjects.
Shah's suicide note states that he was tired of his life. 'When I try to do anything good, it gets worse. How much will I trouble you more? I am ending my life so that I don't trouble my parents more.' He also apologized to his sister in the note and then wrote that the reason behind his death is his problems. Shah also mentioned a girl called Shefali in the note and asked his mother not to blame her for his death.
'Just tell her how much I loved her. This is only my decision. I love you mom and dad. Sorry, but I quit,' he wrote. "We are trying to find out about the girl he mentioned in the note and if there was any other reason behind his suicide. The girl studied with him," Jadeja said.
