Full dress rehearsal for I-Day held; cultural programme missing in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 13 (UNI) A full dress rehearsal for Independence Day (ID) function was today held at Bakshi Stadium under unprecedented security arrangements in the summer capital, Srinagar, where curfew has been imposed to foil 'Referendum March' to historic Lal Chowk.
Reports of hoisting national flag were also received from other district and tehsil headquarters, where people remained confined to their homes due to curfew, restriction and strike, called by separatists against the civilian killings after July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants killed in an encounter in Anantnag.
Hundreds of security forces and state police personnel remained deployed in and outside the stadium since last evening to foil any attempt to disrupt the function.
