A retired Sub-Inspector of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and his wife were killed when the two-wheeler they were riding was hit by a car near Thanakkankulam on Friday.
Police sources said the deceased, S. Senthilkumar (60) and his wife S. Manoranjitham (55), residing in Palanganatham area, were going to their daughter’s house in Thanakkankulam when the accident happened. Sources said when they took a turn from the four-lane highway towards Thanakkankulam, they were hit by a car coming in the opposite direction.
While Mr. Senthilkumar was killed on the spot, Ms. Manoranjitham succumbed to the injuries while being rushed to hospital.
The car toppled and hit an elderly woman on the roadside. Two persons travelling in the car and the elderly woman were hospitalised with minor injuries, police said.
