Mysuru: Fifty days ahead of Dasara festival, Mysuru got a new deputy commissioner in D Randeep, a 2006-batch IAS officer, on Friday.

Randeep served as the DC in Vijayapura for little over two years at before being posted as the DC to Mysuru two days ago.
He succeeds IAS officer C Shikha, who has been transferred and posted as the commissioner of the social welfare department in Bengaluru.
Speaking to reporters, Randeep said that his priority is to ensure a safe and secure Dasara. In the wake of a recent blast at Mysuru Law Court campus, the top officer is particular about Dasara security. "I have been closely following the Dasara festivities. I have witnessed the celebrations as a tourist. But this year, my responsibility is to run the show and give my best to celebrate it efficiently," he added.
Saying that he has 10 years of experience in the administration, the new DC said that Mysuru, like Vijayapura, is also a historical place and that he will first understand its culture. I will uphold the traditions here, he added.
"I know there is a great responsibility on me working as the DC in Mysuru, the home district of chief minister (Siddaramaiah). I will also try and meet the expectations of people," he added.
On the occasion, the DC appealed to district-level officers to solve issues at the local level, and avoid taking district-level matters to the power corridors of Karnataka.
