Educational institutions celebrate Independence Day with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Aug 12: Various educational institutions celebrated 70th Independence Day with enthusiasm and zeal.
GD Goenka Public School celebrated the 70th Independence Day with zing and zest. The children extended a very warm welcome to the Director, Principal and the guest teachers from the UK, offering them tri-colour sashes and bands. The students of the primary wing enthusiastically participated in different acts, dances and poetry recitation. They portrayed the characters of Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Rani Laxmi Bai and paid homage to those who scarified their lives while safeguarding the honour of the motherland. Students also performed a dance-drama exhibiting the trial and tribulations suffered by the revolutionaries during the freedom struggle. A colourful cultural extravaganza was presented by the students of the senior wing. A patriotic song depicting the ethos of the day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm stole away every spectator’s heart. It was followed by a fabulous instrumental song in English from the students. A skit was presented representing various freedom fighters. A fusion of variety regional dances in multi-hued traditional outfits was presented with gaiety and fervour, followed by singing of a patriotic song. Principal of the school Rajesh Rathore reflected on the hardships faced by our courageous freedom fighters and innumerable, unknown and unsung war heroes. He appealed all the students to be groomed well under the guidance of the teachers so as to bring laurels to the State and the nation. A patriotic song from the legendary poet Iqbal was sung by the students. The programme culminated with the singing of the National Anthem.
The celebration of 70th Independence Day was held at Delhi Public School, Udhampur. The day started with patriotic song competition between the four houses of the school in which Atharva Veda house emerged as a winner. The other limelight of the day was the debate competition amongst students of class IX on the topic “Should parents be given right to choose the career of students or not”. The winners of the competition were Anshika Kalsotra (IX) who secured first position and Samridhi Gupta (IX) who secured second position. Fancy dress competition of pre-primary was also held in which the students were dressed as various remarkable leaders of our Nation. The dramatization competition from classes 1st to 5th was also held and the theme of the competition was “Unity in diversity”, in which all the students came up with a different concept related to theme and gave spectacular performance. A colorful dance program and a skit related to India’s freedom were also presented by the students. The chief guest of the day was Col KD Koushal, Principal of Sainik School Nagrota who in his address said that it is important for the students to be loyal to their Nation and must work for development of their Motherland. Chairman of the School Dr JC Gupta in his address said that this day has remarkable importance in Indian history. MD of the school Vivek Gupta, Principal Yogeshwari Rathore, Vice Principal Sucheta Gupta and Sunita Gupta were also present on the occasion.
Stephens School celebrated 70th Independence Day with zeal. A colourful programme including inter house solo dance competition and one Act play were organized. The theme of both the activities was ‘Independent India’. First position in patriotic group song was bagged by Joy House, whereas in one act play, the trophy for first position was bagged by Courage House. The guests present on the occasion were Vice-Chairman, Director, Principal, Vice Principal and Kunal. Courage House was given a special prize for the best performance by Kunal.
JK Police Public School, Miran Sahib organized a special morning assembly on the occasion of 70th Independence Day celebration. Students presented a beautiful cultural item in the form of dance, one act play and group song as tiny toddlers acted as great leaders of the nation and spoke the slogans given by them for the nation. Principal of the School Sanjeev Pradhan, who presided over the special assembly, threw light on the importance of the day.
Army Public School, Akhnoor organized inter school English and Hindi speech competition, in which students from host school, BSF School Paloura, KC International, JNV GHarota, KV No 1 Akhnoor, KV No 2 Akhnoor and DAV Akhnoor took part. The theme of the speech was “Speeches of Indian Freedom Fighters for Indian Independence”. In Hindi, KV Akhnoor, JNV Gharota and BSF School Paloura bagged first, second and third positions respectively, whereas in English, KC International School, KV No 1 Akhnoor and JNV Gharota clinched top three tanks respectively. Prizes were distributed among the winners by the chief guest Dr AB Sharma, Principal, JNV Nagrota.
Independence Day was celebrated at SD Tara Puri Public School. On the occasion, Ram Lal Sharma, secretary of the school was the chief guest, who unfurled the National Flag, followed by National Anthem. Students of different classes gave speeches and recited patriotic poems. Ths students of the choir group sang patriotic song. Students were attired as Bhagat Singh, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. A drawing competition on the theme “Independence” was also organized. Principal Neeru Puri apprised the students about the importance of the day.
Nav Yug Playway School, Subash Nagar celebrated Independence Day. Students presented cultural programme on the theme of Independence. The teachers and students also paid tributes to the leaders of freedom struggle. Principal Preetika Jamwal, Founder CK Jamwal, Vice Principal Asha Tickoo and Managing Director HS Jamwal were also present on the occasion.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua celebrated Independence Day. National Flag was hoisted by Dr Bharat Bhushan, Additional Commissioner Kathua in presence of Principal Shuchita Gupta, Administrator Govind Ram Sharma and Co-ordinator. A cultural programme was organised in which inter house patriotic song competition, inter house quiz programme and fancy dress programme on the theme of “Patriotism” were held.
MV International School celebrated Independence Day. The students of classes from Nursery to Fifth assembled in the ground and formed a huge tricolor on the map of India with Ashok Chakra in the centre displaying the values associated with the colours of our Indian Flag–Sacrifice, Truth, Purity, Youth and Energy. A devoted song “ie mere pyare watan…” was presented by Manju Tickoo. The students of classes IX and X participated in a writing activity where they presented their views on the theme “My Feelings about Independence”. The six best entries were chosen and awarded later.
Doon International School celebrated Independence Day with great fervour and zeal. A spectacular Inter-Class Patriotic Group Song and Dance Competition were held to celebrate the Day. Principal, Vikesh Kaur addressed the students and the staff of the school advising them to sustain the freedom and the independence of India by contributing honestly and truthfully in whatever role they have been awarded to perform in the society.
Madhuvan Kids Playway, Shastri Nagar celebrated Independence Day by holding dance and singing competition for all Kindergarten and Nursery classes. Ajay Pargal and Rekha Mahajan were the chief guests, while MK Vadera was the guest of honor. Students of class UKG also held debates on Flag, Freedom Fighters and Nation. Students were dressed as Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru and paid homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation. At the end, Principal Amrit Choudhary encouraged the students to follow the path of great freedom fighters to unite the nation as one.
Steeping Stone School, Bari Brahmana celebrated Independence Day in the school premises with full enthusiasm. The programme commenced with special assembly in which tiny lots presented different poem and songs relating to Independence Day. The tiny lots proudly wore the tri-colour and marked the occasion by singing patriotic songs under the supervision of Wing Incharge Geetika Shamra. Director of the school Vikash Kumar Sharma threw light on the importance of the day. Principal of the school Anjali Sharma was also present on the occasion.
Army in coordination with District Cultural Officer, Kishtwar conducted a Street Show at Chogan Ground, Kishtwar to mark the celebration of 70th Independence Day. The event was filled with lot of enthralling cultural performances which left the audience spell bound for the entire duration. Considering the popular demand from the audience, it was decided that more such events will be organised in the coming days at Kishtwar.
Independence Day was celebrated at DRS Kids, Janipur. Managing Director Roopam Kaur Soni unfurled the National Flag. On the occasion, children presented various cultural activities and also participated in rhymes recitation event. School Co-ordinator AS Soni was also present.
