Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez no closer to deals

Arsene Wenger has admitted Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are no closer to new deals, according to the Evening Standard. Despite the Arsenal boss claiming there's no cause for concern, despite the pair having been in negotiation with the club since September last year and are yet to advance from their initial position. Both are now within the final two years of their deals, as Europe's elite remain primed to pounce is nothing is resolved.
Paper Round's view: Portrays how important this season is for Arsenal - these two have gone nearly a year without budging on a new deal and have had many of Europe's best monitoring their situations. If Wenger cannot guide Arsenal to a strong finish or trophy contention in a range of cup competitions, these two may start looking elsewhere.

Arsenal make enquiry for Jeremy Mathieu

Arsenal have asked about Barcelona's Jeremy Mathieu, according to the Sun. The report says that the 32-year-old might be drafted in by Arsene Wenger to fix the growing injury crisis in defence for the Gunners. Wenger reportedly wants a left-sided central defender for a cheap fee, as Calum Chambers and Rob Holding are the clubs only fit defenders heading into the first matchday of the season.

Paper Round's view: As the Skhodran Mustafi is currently being thrashed out between Arsenal and Valencia's representatives, Arsenal do need someone in the very short-term. Mathieu could be valuable in cup competitions when their most important players need rotating, and will provide much needed depth for a club that has had struggled to balance their squad with a jam-packed schedule.

Everton set to land Yannick Bolasie

Everton are likely to unveil Yannick Bolasie next week, according to the Sun. Everton are expected to announce the £25 million deal early in the week, as the winger will move from Crystal Palace in a transaction that could go as high as £30 million with various add-on's and success clauses. Crystal Palace and Everton were said to agree to terms earlier yesterday, with a medical set to occur before the deal being finalised.

Paper Round's view: Will unfortunately miss this weekend, but with him and Gerard Deulofeu on either flank, they're set cause headaches if they can also hold onto Romelu Lukaku. Bolasie tried his best in a Palace side that had no presence up-front, as his dangerous dribbling made him the club's most valuable attacking threat.

Saido Berahino will run down West Brom contract

Saido Berahino will finish his contract and leave West Brom for free next year, according to ESPNFC. The report says that after almost a year of speculation around the players future, Berahino has told the club he plans to see out his current contract and will then choose his next club. It comes after Stoke and Crystal Palace had bids rejected for his services and Berahino knocked back a new deal from West Brom that would have made him the highest paid player at the club.

Paper Round's view: As much as it always seemed this would be the case, Berahino is going to put offside the dressing room and supporters with a decision like this. It's something West Brom don't need - a persistent distraction when the club faces it's most challenging bid to stay in the Premier League for a long time.
