Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery 'happy to have won' vs. Bastia

Unai Emery was pleased with Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1-opening defeat of Bastia on Friday, and hailed his side's strong second-half performance against a difficult opponent.

The former Sevilla manager's side used Layvin Kurzawa's 74th minute strike to see off the Corsicans in his league debut. But the victory didn't come without suffering early on.

"We're very happy to have won. The context of the game made things difficult, with a lot of pressure from our opponents and the fans" Emery told Canal+ after the match.

"We played well, particularly in the second half even if there are several things that need improving, things I saw in the first half. That said, the three points will give us confidence.

"I'm happy with the work put in, the tactical work we have done and very happy with the way the players who came off the bench adapted."

PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp similarly praised the three points while crediting the opponent for making things difficult on the day.

"The main thing was to win," Trapp said. "It was a tight game, but we kept calm and played.

"We knew it wouldn't be easy, particularly here. Of course, we knew what to expect. It's not easy to come to Bastia for your first game, but we did the most important thing: we won."

PSG midfielder Lucas Moura said the four-time defending Ligue 1 champions will better for the experience at the Stade Armand-Cesari-Furiani on Friday.

"We're going to improve, get better and stronger. We're just at the start. We're going to do some good things this season," he said.
