Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia Friday said the Delhi government has urged Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung not to remove two non-IAS officials appointed as secretaries in the department of health and public works department (PWD).
The government’s request comes four days after the LG’s office issued an order saying “service matters, including transfers/postings of IAS/DANICS officers” should be placed before Jung directly,
Sisodia, who met the LG Friday afternoon, said he had requested Jung not to transfer PWD Principal Secretary and Engineer-in-Chief Sarvagya Srivastava and Health and Family Welfare Secretary Tarun Seem from their posts.
“The efforts of the Delhi government in the fields of health and education are being appreciated widely. For the construction of mohalla clinics… the plans are ready, locations have been identified and work is underway. Secondly, new, grand schools are being constructed, 4,000 new classrooms have been planned. The officers who were appointed for these departments, under whom work was carried out in a speedy manner, should not be transferred…,” said Sisodia.
He added, “The LG said it is up to the Ministry of Home Affairs and expressed his helplessness. He said he would speak to the MHA about this,” said Sisodia.
“When we contested the election, we made promises to the people of Delhi. Whatever powers we have left, we will use them completely to live up our promises. The CM is back today. He too has said that ministers can work 48 hours instead of 24, but mohalla clinics and schools will be completed,” he added.
