Faridabad, August 12

In all, 24 youths, who have attained the age of 18 years and have got themselves enrolled in the voter list, will be honoured on Independence Day.

Chandershekhar, Deputy Commissioner, said these first-time voters would be part of the contingents that would take part in the I-Day parade. He said the selection of ‘Prajatantra ke Prahari’ (Guards of Democracy) was an attempt to honour the youths who wanted to use their voting right to elect a government.

Sources said all 24 participants were men. The DC, however, said, “I have no information about the number of male or female candidates in the list.”

Meanwhile, the final rehearsal of the Independence Day function of the Ballabgarh subdivision was held at the Dusshera ground here today.
