Chennai: About six weeks after she fatally knocked down a carpenter off Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), engineer Ayshwarya Wilton, driving her car drunk, has been granted conditional bail by the Madras high court.
Justice G Chockalingam ordered her release on bail on Friday and directed Ayshwarya to furnish a personal bond for 1 lakh besides producing two sureties each to the like sum.
She shall deposit another 1 lakh in the 18th metropolitan magistrate court to be paid as interim compensation to the victim's family which shall file an application for the purpose. She shall sign before the police officer concerned at 10.30am on all days for a week, the court said.
According to police, Ayshwarya's car knocked down Munusamy early on July 1 while he was trying to cross the road near SRP Tools junction point. They said her blood alcohol content was 36% at the time of the incident.
