Let football be tomorrow�s winner

As the Botswana Football Association (BFA) heads to its annual general assembly on Saturday, cool heads must prevail.

After acrimonious wars or personality clashes in public, we plead with the contenders to display maturity and maintain cool heads.  The contenders should go into this weekend’s elections bearing in mind that there will be winners and losers, and those who have lost should accept defeat and embrace the victor.  This is football, as it is widely regarded as the beautiful game.  That should show on Saturday, as football should emerge the winner.

We have all longed for this moment. Our football has been tainted as we have witnessed character assassinations in public arenas, something that could rob football of its beauty. It is time to move forward and whoever will be voted must be a ‘game-changer’ in our football.  Our football has stalled and supporters, sponsors and the general public alike want to see progress.
