Burnley have agreed a deal to sign Belgium international Steven Defour, Anderlecht have confirmed.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who was part of Belgium's Euro 2016 squad, has been with Anderlecht since 2014 and has previously been coveted by a number of Premier League clubs.
In 2009, Sir Alex Ferguson wrote a letter to Defour confirming Manchester United were still interested in signing him after he was sidelined long term when he broke a bone in his foot.
Although a move to English football did not materialise, Defour has now finally secured a move to the Premier League with newly-promoted Burnley, with his club Anderlecht wishing him "good luck" on Twitter.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche had said on Thursday the club were finding it difficult to compete in an "astounding" transfer market this summer ahead of their season opener against Swansea on Saturday.
Defour attracted controversy with transfers earlier in his career, with Standard Liege fans sparking outrage with a large banner depicting a beheaded Defour and accompanied with the words "red or dead" after the player's switch to rivals Anderlecht.
The midfielder responded by kicking the ball into the crowd and subsequently being sent off and Standard went on to win the match 2-0.
