Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Aug 12 2016 10:37PM GMR foundation donates 16,000 pairs shoes to school kidsKakinada Aug 12 (UNI) The GMR Varalakshmi foundation launched the programme of distribution of 16,000 pairs of Tom shoes besides 2,500 work books to school going children of government schools from 1-4 standards at a function held at the MPP school in Avulamanda village in Thondangi mandal today. Ramanamurty Mandal education officer while inaugurating the programme has appreciated the efforts of GMR group for giving a helping hand to school children in its area of operations in Kakinada special economic zone. GMR foundation sources said that they had launched the programme in association with the TOMS company. The TOMS was founded in 2006 with a unique vision and under the scheme with every pair of TOMS shoes purchased one pair of new shoes will be given free to a child in need. Shoes are seen as a health promotion intervention aimed at reducing skin infections, fungus growth and other infectious diseases linked to bare feet.
