Another saran riots accused surrenders
Chhapra: After surrender by Md Mobarak, the main accused of uploading objectionable video which led to communal tension in parts of Saran district, another accused Ashutosh Kumar, a resident of Bhaluahia village under Parsa police station, also surrendered at Maker police station on Thursday.
Saran SP Pankaj Kumar Raj on Friday said police would take both the accused on remand for 72 hours for interrogation.
“A team has been sent to Mumbai to bring Md Mobarak, who is expected here by Friday evening or Saturday morning. Fool-proof arrangements have been made to produce them before the court.”
The SP also informed that the chargesheet would be submitted immediately after interrogation. So far, four persons have been nabbed in this connection which includes two named and two unnamed accused.
Meanwhile, the district administration has sent a report to the state government regarding recent disturbances in the district in which about 50 shop keepers have been identified who suffered due to arson and loot incidents on Friday and Saturday (August 5,6). A sum of about Rs 25 lakh has been demanded for payment as compensation to the victims.
Aftab Alam Khan, president of Raza Welfare Trust, Chhapra, has demanded stern action against those who have disturbed communal harmony of the district irrespective of the communities they belong, so that such incidents are not repeated in future.
