Marubhoomiyile Aana Movie Review

Story: Suku is desperate to find a way to solve his financial issues and marry his girlfriend Keerthy. Urged by his friend, he takes up the responsibility to execute a ‘risky’ task in Qatar that promises some quick money. When he leaves the Arab country, he takes with him a bagful of new challenges.

Review: Banking on some Biju Menon style straight-faced jokes has been proving worthwhile for many films, and it looks like moviemakers are growing a lot more interested by the day to make the most of his presence. Presenting him in a ‘Sheikh’ avatar, Marubhoomiyile Aana has done just this and as the actor embraces his cartoonish sensibilities, the movie becomes a madcap comedy which isn’t supposed to make a lot of sense.

Suku (Krishnashankar) wants to marry Keerthy (Samskruthy Shenoy), who is the daughter of the man who cheated his dad. Meanwhile, he also wants to wriggle out of the monetary mess he is trapped in and is on the lookout for a solution. He decides to leave for Qatar to make some quick bucks through a ‘risky’ operation, and chances upon a Sheikh (Biju Menon) from the country’s royal family. Soon after, Suku finds himself embroiled in some new issues, which if handled well, can bail him out of his woes.

Marubhoomiyile Aana, a novel story, rides on the refreshing character of Biju Menon that extracts every dollop of humour possible while he is on screen. The actor looks dashing in his ‘Arab’ get up and eases through the role. The movie generously borrows from many much-loved classic humour scenes of various Malayalam films, but the characters entertainingly twist them to add on a lot more of laughter. What adds spice to the humorous proceedings are the occasional ‘revelations’ and sudden swerves taken by the story that catch the viewers by surprise. At the same time, it hardly has hooking humour moments, which if you go back to, gets funny every time.
