VADODARA: Pune history-sheeter Sagar Rajput, who had fired at and injured two policemen in the city on Wednesday night, was booked for attempt to murder on Thursday by the Navapura police.
Rajput had shot at the police team from Pune, who had cornered him behind Nehru Bhavan near Kirtistambh.
One assistant police inspector and a constable were injured in the firing while Rajput too suffered injury on his leg after the cops retialiated.

He tried to flee from the spot but was caught by the city police within few minutes. "We have filed a complaint against Rajput and he will now be arrested by the Navapura police. Rajput is currently admitted to the SSG Hospital for treatment," said Pradeepsinh Jadeja, assistant commissioner of police.
After getting information from their Pune counterparts, the detection of crime branch (DCB) began investigations and found that Rajput was staying in the city since last two years.
Police said Rajput had two houses, one in Chhani and another in Gotri area.
When questioned, he tried to mislead the cops by giving them address of his Gotri residence that is locked since several months.
"We tracked his another house after learning about his wife who stays in Chhani. On searching, we found a pistol and a revolver along with 57 live cartridges," said D J Patel, joint police commissioner.

The investigators also found 20 mobile phones, sim cards and several bogus identity documents including Aadhar cards from his house. Also, fake license plates of vehicles and Rs 1.72 lakh cash were recovered from the residence.
"We suspect that he used to change his name frequently to hide his real identity. In Chhani, he used to stay with the name of Hanumant Chopde," Patel told TOI.
Rajput settled in the city and married a local girl. He had started business of lending money on interest to people
On Wednesday night, Rajput had gone to meet a debtor to recover the money he had lent him. The DCB got tip-off about his visit following which they informed Pune assistant police inspector, Ranjit Bhoite and constable, Dilip More who were already camping in the city to nab him. Bhoite and More reached the spot before the local cops and tried to nab Rajput before he opened fire.
The cops recovered 17 fired and live cartridges along with a revolver from the spot.
"Rajput has offences of murder registered against him in three police stations in Pune and one of carrying arms illegally in Mumbai," Patel added.
Rajput used to work for a gang led by Gajanan Marne in Pune. A DCP and ACP from Pune police department arrived in the city on Thursday and met the injured cops who are now in stable condition.
