Minors 8.11.16: Joe Shaw leads Fireflies to shutout win

READING at BINGHAMTON (canceled)

BRADENTON 10, ST. LUCIE 7: St. Lucie squandered a 5-0 lead, committed a season-high-matching four errors and walked eight batters as a five-game winning streak ended. Luis Guillorme had a two-run double, Lednier Ricardo contributed a two-run single and Patrick Biondi had an RBI double in a five-run second. Meanwhile, St. Lucie starter Chris Flexen walked one batter in each of the five innings. His outing unraveled in the fourth when third baseman David Thompson's error and a slow turn on a potential inning-ending double play at second base by Jonathan Johnson kept the inning alive. Jerrick Suiter then ripped a two-run double to pull Brandenton within 5-4 and knock Flexen from the game. Domingo Tapia entered and was greeted by Chase Simpson's game-tying double. In the sixth, Tapia walked the leadoff batter, committed an error on a bunt and ultimately surrendered four runs (two earned). Box

COLUMBIA 8, GREENSBORO 0: Joe Shaw tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings and combined with Tyler Bashlor and Jimmy Duff on a five-hit shutout. Tyler Moore went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Box

ELIZABETHTON 5, KINGSPORT 2: Jordan Humphreys (1-5) allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings. Box

BROOKLYN 7, VERMONT 4: Jose Reyes went 0-for-1 with two walks, two steals and a run scored and logged five innings at third base in his first rehab game. First-round pick Justin Dunn walked three but allowed no hits and struck out six in three scoreless innings. The Cyclones broke a 2-all tie with a three-run seventh that included four walks as well as Hengelbert Rojas' two-run single. Nick Sergakis walked four times and scored twice in the win. Box
