Nursing students seek mark sheets
Karnal: Future of more than 15,000 students pursuing auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) and general nurse midwife (GNM) courses is at stake as they have not been given their detailed mark sheets of previous exams. Further, their examinations have not been conducted since November 2014.
On Wednesday, the students staged a protest at the mini secretariat where they clashed with the police.
On Thursday, a meeting was fixed with the Haryana director general of health services; director of PGIMS, Rohtak; and the director of department of medical education and research (DMER).
The DMER deputy director, Amarjit Singh, met the protesting students and assured them that appropriate steps would be taken to address their demands.
Tejaswini Verma, a GNM student of Gandhi College of Pharmacy, Karnal, said, "It's not just about us but all nursing students of Haryana. We got admission in 2013 in GNM course and appeared in exam in November 2014. However, our result was not declared for six months. We even spoke to the authorities, but nothing was done. Then we decided to stage a protest. Later we got a notice that we have to appear for examinations again as the university, to which our college was affiliated, was fake. We managed to meet the director of DMER and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar after protest on July 10, 2015, and finally our result was declared online on October 9."
Demands of students
Valid detailed mark certificates from recognised university should be given to batches from 2012 to 2015
Examination to be conducted for 2015 for all batches and courses should be completed in stipulated time frame
Cases against them be withdrawn that were lodged during their protest in 2015
A permanent nursing board should be established in Haryana
