Class 10 girl commits suicide

A Class 10 student allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her house after her parents reprimanded her for neglecting studies. The 15-year-old from Chinnapatti near M Chatrapatti in Madurai was a student of a local school. She committed suicide on Wednesday night, police said.
The body was shifted to the Government Rajaji Hospital, where a post-mortem was conducted.M Chatrapatti police have registered a case and are conducted inquiries.
Two motorists killed in road accident:
Two persons travelling on a motorcycle were killed on the spot when the vehicle crashed against a truck at Perumbathur junction in Rajapalayam road near Sankarankovil on Wednesday night. Police have identified one of the victims as P Paulraj, 24, of Karivalamvandhanallur. Tirunelveli district police have registered a case and are conducting inquiries.
Madurai-Trichy road blocked after accident:
A group of villagers blocked the Madurai-Trichy road on Thursday morning, after a 50-year-old woman who was trying to cross the four-way lane road at Kambur near Karungalakudi in Madurai district, was mowed down by a car. It affected vehicular movement in the busy stretch. The protesters demanded authorities to construct a sub-way in the area to cross the road. They disbursed after a police team pacified them. The victim was identified as Kathammal from Kambur.
Detained under goondas act:
A history-sheeter who was recently caught red-handed by the public while he was trying to rob a college students near Trichy Central bus stand has been detained under the goondas act. M Vasanthakumar, hailing from Sourashtra Street near Big bazaar, has several cases against him in Srirangam, Cantonment, Ariyamangalam police stations. He was convicted in four cases.
