Report: Lane Johnson To Start Against Bucs

Plus: 10 Eagles who won't be active for the first preseason game.

Lane Johnson will start in the Eagles’ first preseason game tonight at 7 p.m. against the Buccaneers, according to CSN’s John Clark. Johnson is reportedly facing a 10-game suspension because of a second failed drug test.

While Johnson will play, Doug Pederson previously announced 10 Eagles who won’t be active. They are: Malcolm Jenkins (hamstring), Marcus JohnsonMychal Kendricks (hamstring), Mike Martin (knee), Jordan Matthews (knee), Jason Peters (quad), Hunter SharpJaCorey Shepherd (hamstring), Wendell Smallwood (quad) and Marcus Smith (concussion).

Matt Tobin will start in place of Peters at left tackle, Nelson Agholor will take Jordan Matthews’ spot and Chris Givens will take Agholor’s typical role. On defense, Chris Maragos and Jaylen Watkins will rotate in with the first-team defense to replace Jenkins and play alongside Rodney McLeod, while Najee Goode will replace Kendricks.
