Intel czar Shivadar and SIB head Sajjanar planned Nayeem ops well

Shivadar Reddy and Special Intelligence Branch chief V.C. Sajjanar planned and executed operations meticulously.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s top Intelligence official Battula Shivadar Reddy has been on the mark with a series of successful operations that has not only given political mileage to the TRS but has also improved the TS law and order situation.

From the encounter killing of gangster Nayeem and the cash-for-vote scam, to the arrest of ISIS suspects, Mr Shivadar Reddy and Special Intelligence Branch chief V.C. Sajjanar planned and executed operations meticulously.

A 1994 batch IPS official holding IGP rank in the TS cadre, Mr B. Shivadar Reddy was born in a rich landholding family in Ibrahimpatnam. Officers close to him say that he had been vocal for the cause of Telangana during the statehood agitation. Even Andhra Intelligence officials praise the TS intelligence chief.

A top ranking AP police official said, “He sets realistic targets, which makes undercover operations successful. In the cash-for-vote scam, it was Hyderabad police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy who was the guiding force for the TS Intelligence. In the ISIS case TS Intelligence teamed up well with NIA and the IB.”

The cash-for-vote scam operation that led to the arrest of TD leader Revanth Reddy and made AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu shift base, was a flawless operation that made Mr Shivadar Reddy dearer to the TS Chief Minister.

In the aftermath of the operation, the AP CM had to change his Intelligence chief as he needed a competent man to match Mr Shivadhar Reddy. A TS IPS official said, “Nayeem’s operation was risky; if anything went wrong, it could have led to the deaths of women and children used as human shields by Nayeem. It was executed well.”

On the political intelligence front too, Mr Shivadhar Reddy produced good results and his predictions, including the GHMC election win, were accurate.
Mr Reddy has won the police medal twice in his 22 years of service.

An LLB from Osmania University, Mr Reddy was one of the toppers in the Civil Service examination in 1993. He worked as the SP of Nalgonda, Srikakulam, Guntur and Nellore, and was DCP in Hyderabad and also DIG in SIB, the anti-Naxal wing. Mr Reddy was ACB director too for a while. At the time of bifurcation, he was commissioner of police of Visakhapatnam.
