A 53-year-old man is facing a combined 21 charges after he allegedly used fake credit cards to buy gift cards at Sears locations across the GTA.

Police say the fraudulent purchases were made between Dec. 2015 and July 2016.

Following an investigation, the Durham Regional Police Service Major Fraud Unit executed a search warrant at a home in Scarborough where they arrested one man.

Credit card information, pre-paid credit cards, cash and banking documents were also seized at the scene.

Police say the estimated loss for Sears as a result of the gift cards is over $7000.

A suspect identified as Ronald Anderson, of Scarborough, faces 21 fraud-related charges including fraud over $5000, possession of property obtained by crime and unauthorized use of credit card data.

He was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.
