Two caught for car thefts from Naranpura

A team of Ellisbridge police caught two persons in connection with theft of two cars from a garage in Naranpura on August 4. Whilie police have found one of the stolen car, they have got to know that one of the accused had kept the other car to his friend’s residence at Patan.

AHMEDABAD: A team of Ellisbridge police caught two persons in connection with theft of two cars from a garage in Naranpura on August 4. Whilie police have found one of the stolen car, they have got to know that one of the accused had kept the other car at his friend’s residence at Patan.
As per Ellisbridge police, Naranpura police had registered a complaint on August 5 for theft of two cars at Yash Motors garage at Shastrinagar in Naranpura.
The thieves had cut the locks on the shutters with gas cutter and had decamped with the two cars kept inside.
“A team was on vehicle checking drive when a black car was stopped near Ellisbridge which was devoid of number plate. By checking the engine and chassis number, it was revealed that the car was reported as stolen. The duo was taken into custody for further questioning,” said an Ellisbridge police official.
The duo was identified as Shailesh Nayi, 26, a resident of Anandnagar, Satellite, and Vikas Gameti, 19, a resident of Sola. While Nayi is native of Patan, Gameti is native of Dungarpur, Rajasthan. Gameti had worked at the garage for one and a half months, said investigators.
“Nayi has mentioned that he had driven the other stolen car to his friend Bhupat Darbar’s residence near Patan. We have handed over the accused to Naranpura police for further investigation,” said an official.
