Denso begins chasing Germans in self-driving tech

Denso unveiled an autonomous-driving simulator in May.

NAGOYA, Japan/FRANKFURT, Germany -- Japanese autoparts giant Denso is scrambling to prepare for a drastic market change expected in the not-so-distant future when autonomous cars become widespread.

"I believe we are on equal standing with major German suppliers," Kazuoki Matsugatani, head of Denso's advanced driver assist system task force, said Wednesday at a technical briefing. "We may not be good at advertising it, but riders will know."
