Una atrocity case: local Congress MLA files complaint over social media posts in circulation

Junagadh; Congress MLA from Gujarat Punjabhai Vansh has filed police complaint against ‘wrong and baseless’ details involving him and senior Congress leaders being circulated on social media platforms in connection with Una atrocity case. Vansh has filed complaint under Information Technology Act – 2000 and Indian Penal Code 1860 to district police chief of Gir Somnath district.

Vansh who is Congress MLA from an area where Una atrocity incident happened in his complaint said wrong details are in circulation on social media. Added to this he states a website Jagruk Bharat contains wrong details. This is a conspiracy only and only to defame Congress party and senior leaders of Congress, Vansh said in his complaint. Vansh has sent copy of his complaint to Home Secretary, Gujarat government,state police DGP and others.

Operative part of the complaint:

Certain groups are working as protector of cows. However, there are wide spread complaints across the line of the society that under the name and guise of protecting cows, several other activities are going on including harassment to the innocent persons. Therefore, it has become evident to malign some other person so that feeling of this community can be killed and diverted to. In this attempt, the messages have been circulated in the social media, wherein it has been stated that whole conspiracy was hatched by the complainant with the connivance of the leaders of the political party of the complainant. It is alleged that the complainant has hatched said conspiracy to thrash the Dalit youths with the aid and assistance of the Sarpanch of village Mota Samadhiyala. The undersigned had about 300 telephone calls with the Sarpanch and the complainant has arranged for entire incident and the persons those who have involved in the said crime are neither Gaurakshak nor the Shiv Sainik of Shivsena. Indication given in the said messages are that the entire incident is orchestred by the complainant with the aid and assistance of the Sarpanch, the complainant has arranged for those accused and the complainant has acted at the behest of his political leaders.

5. The circulation of those messages of social media and also in the website of Jagrutbharat.com contains false and frivolous fats. The complainant had no regular talks with the Sarpanch. There is no occasion of direct talk by the complainant with his political leaders stationed at Delhi. There was no communication between the leaders named in the said social media. There was no communication as suggested and alleged in the social media. The whole information is false, frivolous and concocted. This has been done to defame not only the complainant but entire Congress and its leadership including the leaders named in the said messages and, therefore, the persons who have originated and circulated these messages are liable to be prosecuted for various offences punishable under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (Act No.22 of 2000) and Indian Penal Code, 1860 (Act No. 45 of 1860). Copies of the messages circulated in the social media and Jagrutbharat.com are enclosed herewith. This kind of messages are circulated also in other website, to the knowledge of the complainant which includes facebook, whatsapp and other applications as well. Therefore, the sites of the social media may be checked and persons those who have originated said messages and persons those who have circulated the same are real culprits and offenders and, therefore, they are accused in the said crime, either for commission and/or for abetment thereof. Message has been originated at the behest of some highly placed political figures. Therefore, detailed investigation would be required to reach those conspirators and those conspirators are also required to be booked. Therefore, the complainant gives this complaint to record the FIR and direct the investigation and proceed in accordance with law.
