New Delhi, August 11
A Member of Parliament of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday accused Congress leader Jagdish Tytler of buying witnesses off in the anti-Sikh riot cases of 1984.
Speaking at the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, MP Prem Singh Chandumajra claimed that Tytler had paid Rs 1 crore to Surinder Singh, a witness in the murder case of a Granthi of Pul Bangash Gurdwara in North Delhi during the riots.
The Parliamentarian also claimed that Tytler had spent $50,000 to send Singh’s son abroad, another attempt to buy his silence.
Both accusations had been made by arms dealer Abhisekh Verma, the Congress leader’s former associate, during the case’s trial. — PTI
