JAIPUR: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) is gearing up for chief minister Vasundhara Raje's scheduled visit to Hingonia gaushala on Thursday.
The JMC officials remained on their toes fearing that incessant rains could deteriorate the condition further at the cow shelter. The drainages at the shelter, which were choked since long, were opened again after deploying huge manpower.
The broken walls were repaired and painted by the labourers on Wednesday. Benches were also installed at various points for the gau sevaks by the administration.
As Raje could visit the gaushala, district collector Siddharth Majan and city mayor Nirmal Nahata also inspected the gaushala and took stock of the situation.Following the direction of the mayor, water tanks at the gaushala were properly cleaned on Wednesday. It was also directed to the veterinary doctors to stock important medicines and keep operation wards ready for urgent surgeries. "Permanent workers will be employed at the ICU unit of the centre," said an official.
Compared to 60 deaths of the bovines that were reported on Tuesday, the death toll of cattle has come down to 40 on Wednesday, an official said.Seeing the past condition of gaushala and death toll, the officials are fearing to take charge for the post of the deputy commissioner. Sources in the department said, the state government has offered, Susil Punia, a Rajasthan Administrative Services-rank official to take care of the centre as a deputy commissioner. However, he refused.
Before the CM's visit, the JMC has decided to deploy 50 home guards at the centre. The corporation will also provide accommodation to these guards at the centre itself. "Contact details of visitors coming to the centre will be taken by guards. We will also maintain a suggestions and remarks register for visitors. They can provide feedback which will help us to improve the condition of the shelter," added offical.
The center will also open its doors to visitors and cow devotees. "On Saturday and Sunday, visitors can come to the shelter between 9 am and 1 pm. They can give fodder to the cattle. This will bring in more transparency into the workings of the shelter," he said.
