CSA Global Expands in North America with acquisition of ACA Howe Canada

CSA Global has completed the acquisition of A.C.A. Howe International, one of Canada’s longest-standing independent mining industry consulting firms. The Toronto-based group will provide a valuable addition to the CSA Global team. Over the coming months ACA Howe will be integrated into CSA Global’s existing Canadian business and across its international operations to broaden the company’s service offering in the Americas and globally.

Since its founding in 1960, ACA Howe has provided independent advice on exploration, mining and specialist technical services to a diverse range of clients across mineral commodities and all stages of project development.

Jeff Elliott, Managing Director of CSA Global, stated “The acquisition was pursued to provide greater capacity and depth of services to the combined group’s clients in the Americas. The move is aligned with the company’s strategy to broaden its service offerings in key mining markets by providing access to personnel with local knowledge and expertise and to leverage this with the collective experience and capabilities of CSA Global’s international network”.

“I am extremely excited by this development, as we believe there are great opportunities for expansion of our business in the Americas (and elsewhere). We have enjoyed positive relations with ACA Howe’s team for several years, since one of their former consultants (Galen White) joined our UK management team back in 2008. We plan to build on the goodwill between the two firms and utilise this to create benefits for our clients and personnel, not only in the Americas but across the globe”.

Commenting on the deal, ACA Howe’s President Director Felix Lee, said “The integration of ACA Howe and CSA Global makes good business sense. Both companies share strong pedigrees and have very similar values, although we have different regional strengths. By pooling our assets and experience, we create synergistic benefits and further differentiate ourselves from our competitors”.

CSA Global’s move to establish a presence in Toronto does not detract from its plans in Vancouver where it has had an office since 2012. The combined Canadian team will continue to seek further opportunities to enhance their reputation for excellence in technical services across mining and resource studies, corporate work, project evaluations, data and technology services, and integrated geo-scientific solutions.

The combining of these businesses creates a group with more than 80 years of international operational practice, an extensive project portfolio involving several thousand mineral assets globally, and a larger pool of talented mining industry professionals with broad skills and extensive experience” said Elliott.

Several members of CSA Global’s leadership team are involved in the transition process and will work closely with ACA Howe’s Toronto team to fully integrate both teams. As part of this process, CSA Global’s Director of Global Operations, Daniel (Stan) Wholley, will transfer to Toronto to focus on leveraging their combined capabilities and networks and to oversee client and business development activities across the Americas.

CSA Global is an independent mining, geological, technology and management consulting company spanning several decades servicing the international minerals industry. It provides multidisciplinary services to resource industry clients worldwide from its offices in Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa, Russia, UK and Canada.
