Student attacked with sickle

Police are on the lookout for the assailants who assaulted a student of SRM University near the campus in Kattankulathur on Wednesday evening.

K. Ganesh (20), a resident of Ranganathapuram in west Tambaram, studying Viscom in SRM University was reportedly assaulted by a gang of five men, who are believed to be former students of the university.

The gang assaulted him with a sickle and sharp weapons and escaped after he fell unconscious.

Other students rushed him to SRM Hospital, where he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit.

A case has been registered with the M.M. Nagar police station and investigations have begun.
