    Arunachal government has suspended sms/gprs/3g/4g data service in Itanagar

    GUWAHATI: A day ahead of suicide former chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Kalikho Pul has become restless. Pul was slated to visit new Delhi and meet BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal.
    A senior police official said that on Monday Pul was slated to go to New Delhi via Guwahati. While coming from Itanagar to Guwahati through roadways, Pul asked his driver to turn the car back to Itanagar. He was restless that day.

    Mittal confirmed ET that Pul was slated to meet him however he did not turn up. “ Pul was a great friend of mine.”

    With tension prevailing in the Arunachal following the suicide of former chief Kalikho Pul, congress ruled Arunachal government has suspended sms/gprs/3g/4g data service in Itanagar as a precautionary measure.

    Supporters of Pul had taken to streets and vandalized properties on Tuesday. Principal Secretary (Home), Satyagopal in an order stated whereas the home department is in receipt of various intelligence inputs wherein there is indication that there is a likelihood of communal tension/clashes in and around capital complex following the demise of former chief.

    The order added that and whereas the inputs indicates that there is every possibility of electronics communication tools like SMS and mobile data service being used for furtherance of the objective of spreading communal messages leading to communal violence.

    “The use of such media may cause difficulty in curbing and controlling the dissemination of communal tension/violence leading to deterioration of law and order situation and public order in the capital complex. Now therefore you are hereby directed that all sms and GPRS/3G/4G data service by all service providers are to remain suspended with immediate effect till further order,” the order added.

    The mortal remains of Pul was taken to his native village Hawai in remote Anjaw district bordering China for the last rites. A holiday has been declared on Thursday as last rites of Pul will take place.

    Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering, AICC Secretary Jay Kumar along with senior party leaders, MLAs attended the helipad in Rajbhavan while Pul’s body was taken to his native village.

    Governor of Arunachal Pradesh (On leave), J P Rajkhowa while condoling the demise of Pul said that state has lost a great visionary leader and a Statesman who worked selflessly and relentlessly for all round development and welfare of the State and its people.

    Rajkhowa in a statement added during his short tenure as the Chief Minister, Pul was successful in taking forward the pace of development and welfare activities to new heights. And at the same time could touch the hearts of the people through his compassionate and benevolent initiatives. “With a spell of about 5 months, Pul could earn the distinction of being the most popular and people friendly Chief Minister, the Governor pointed.”
