Monsoon fury abates in MP

Bhopal, Aug 10 (UNI) Though the monsoon has generally lessened in intensity over Madhya Pradesh where lakes, ponds and reservoirs attained full-tank level owing to healthy precipitation, the state’s rivers and nullahs continue to be in spate.
“In the past 24 hours, a majority of places in Rewa, Shahdol, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Chambal and Ujjain divisions experienced rainfall. The figures are Rewa 70 mm; Sohagpur 60; Kotma and Jaithari 40 each; Anuppur, Dindori, Malajkhand, Agar Malwa, Jawad and Bhawra 30 each; Gwalior 21.6, Pachmarhi 9 and Bhopal 3.7 mm,” an official at the city-based Regional Meteorological Centre said.
Since June 1, this City of Lakes recorded 1,050 mm rain, which is 394 mm higher than normal. Of the state’s 51 districts, 30 received above-average precipitation, 18 normal and it was below normal in the remainder.
