Welcome back!

India crawled their way to 234 for 5 at stumps on the opening day of the third Test, courtesy a defiant 108-run unbeaten stand for the sixth wicket between Ashwin and Saha. The duo kept West Indies bowlers at bay for the entire duration of the last session yesterday to rebuild India's innings.

India opted to drop Pujara, to draft in Rohit Sharma, and Murali Vijay to hand another chance to Shikhar Dhawan while Kohli promoted himself to the No. 3 slot - three drastic, dare I say needless, experiments - all gone wrong, at least in the first innings.

West Indies' Alzarri Joseph was most impressive of the lot, taking out Kohli and Rohit cheaply to mark a successful debut. Chase picked up two wickets too, while KL Rahul scored a brisk 50 to revive India from the early blows.

Stay tuned as we get you all the live action from Day 2 of the Test.

On a day when most of the Indian batsmen struggled, barring Rahul and Rahane, Ashwin played a vital knock to ensure the visitors don't slump for a below par score. He will resume his innings on 75. Century no. 4 against the West Indies in the offing? We sure hope so!

Right then, Ashwin and Saha out in the middle. Ashwin on strike and Joseph will begin the proceedings.

Even though India have Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who can bat fair it, a lot depends on this pair and how much they can add to India's total. Around 350 would be the bare minimum that the Indian management would expect.

Saha brings up his third Test half-century with a couple off Holder. The teammates stand up and applaud from the balcony. The Indian management has preferred to promote Aswhin ahead of Saha this entire series, but he's proved his worth with a very crucial knock here.

Saha brings up the 150 of his partnership with Ashwin with a boundary off Cummins, and follows it up with another one, two balls later.

Ashwi, meanwhile, in his 90s.

So then, Ashiwn will have to wait a bit more for his hundred. Saha's catching up too. He's progressed to 93 from 77 since Ashwin got to 99.

Anyway, that'll be lunch on Day 2 of the third test. India's session, by all means. The duo have endured another session without much trouble and added 82 runs to their overnight score of 234 for 5 without losing a wicket. This partnership, now worth 190, is also India's best sixth-wicket stand against West Indies. The hosts will have a lot to rethink over lunch.

Just to add, Vishaal reports, there could be a slight drizzle looking at which the groundsmen are now covering the pitch as the teams head into the lunch break.

All set for the second session. There is a unique record Ashwin could (hopefully, will) equal. Sunil Gavaskar is the only Indian player to score his first 4 100s against West Indies. He'd be the second.

Ashwin on strike. Saha too is nearing his century.

He's spent a little too much time in his 90s, but finally here's the fourth Test century for Ashwin - all four against West Indies. But this one would be more special than the rest. He had to do all the repair work, with Saha for company at the other end, after the top order failed on Day 1.

Raises the hundred with a six.Kumble, Kohli and the rest stand up and applaud (and Shami is busy clicking!). It's been that kind of a knock.

Saha, meanwhile, has moved on to 94.

And now, Saha gets to his century with a couple of Roston Chase. He was struggling at the start of his innings - with 1 off 33 balls - but recovered brilliantly to notch up his maiden hundred in Test cricket. After constantly being pushed down the order - he's batted after Ashwin all along in this series - this is some statement from the wicketkeeper.

The teammates and support staff stand up and applaud. Well played, indeed!

Oh well, Joseph ends the brilliant 213-run stand between Saha and Ashwin with the wicket of the former. Not a fabulous delivery but did the job for West Indies. They had been looking for a breakthrough since the start of the day. Thick outside edge, the keeper dives to his right and completes the catch. Rod Tucker wasn't entirely sure but consults the third umpire and gives Saha the marching orders.

End of a brilliant innings, a brilliant fightback from Saha.

Jadeja is the new man in.

Jadeja departs. What a waste of an opportunity! Short ball, well outside off, Jadeja gives away an edge to the keeper who dives to his left. More importantly, maiden Test wicket for Cummins.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar walks in next. India 351 for 7.

Gabriel opens his account now and Bhuvi falls for a 9-ball duck. Straight catch for the man at short leg - Leon Johnson.

Cummins gets the big fish! End of a brilliant knock from Ashwin, his most memorable century, without doubt. First ball after the drinks break and Cummins has picked up the most important wicket for his team. It is only a matter of time now..

And here's the last one too. Ishant falls for third-ball duck in the same over. Cummins was struggling to get his maiden wicket and once he did, he's cleaned up the Indian tail cheaply to keep them to 353 despite two tons - that of Ashwin and Saha.

Join us back in ten minutes for West Indies' reply.

Leon Johnson and Kraigg Brathwaite out in the middle to open West Indies' innings. Bhuvi will start with the new ball. Brathwaite and West Indies are off the mark with a single off the second ball.

Its Shami from the other end.

Tea on Day 2, folks. Despite the lower-order collapse earlier in this session, India would be pretty happy with the score they have. 353 from being 130 for 5 at one stage is a commendable job, all thanks to centuries from Ashwin and Saha. While Ashwin raised his fourth against West Indies, it was Saha's maiden and both will remember their knocks for a long time!

West Indies have safely negotiated the 9 overs before Tea since the end of India's first innings. They are 16 for no loss.

Join us back in 15 for the third and final session of the day.

KL Rahul's brilliant fielding gets India the first wicket. Leon Johnson falls, chasing a cheeky single. The fielder at short mid-wicket - Rahul - picks the ball and aims for the stumps at the non-striker's end and nails it! Johnson's gone for23 off 75 balls.

Darren Bravo is the new man in.

Two boundaries in a space of three overs off Ishant and the West Indies brings up his 10th Test half-century.

And that'll also be stumps. West Indies have been solid in their reply, ending the day on 107 for 1. They've added 91 runs in the 38 overs of the final session and lost the wicket of Leon Johnson.

Honours even at stumps on Day 2. Ashwin and Saha resumed India's battle from the overnight score of 234 for 5 and hit centuries to take India past the 300-run mark. With Saha and Ashwin, India were going quite strongly but Saha's wicket, after his maiden Test hundred, triggered a collapse. Ashwin fell soon after and India were restricted to 353 in their first innings, shortly before Tea. West Indies' reply has been solid. They've reached 107 for the loss of opener Johnson's wicket who was trying to sneak a cheeky single but was caught short by Rahul's direct hit at the non-striker's end. Other than that, India have struggled to get another breakthrough.

India's lead is down to 246 and the hosts have nine wickets in hand, plus a batsman who's got his eyes set. But tomorrow would be a fresh day.

Join us tomorrow for all the live updates from Day 3 of the third Test. Till then, good night!
