SURAT: Two persons including a child were washed away in two separate incidents in gushing waters of Tapi river and in Bamroli creek in Surat city on Wednesday evening.
According to the details available from the fire brigade officials, Chandu F Vanzara, a 50-year-old worker, went to Tapi river shore for bath near Sarthana water works on Wednesday evening.
His leg slipped on the shore and he was washed away in gushing waters of the river.
Fire officials have put in a boat for the rescue work and search operation is on.
In the second incident, Mihir J Darji, a 10-year-old boy, fell in Bamroli creek on Wednesday evening. The boy, who is stated to bementally unstable, was playing near the creek at Bamroli bridge on the way to Sosyo circle to Bhestan and fell in the water.
He was washed away in gushing waters. The creek was swelling following rain in the upstream. Fire officials have started a search on the down stream for the boy but have not succeeded till now.
