Perambalur court issues arrest warrant against Vijayakanth
Principal district judge A Nazeema Banu ordered the arrest warrant after neither Vijayakanth nor his counsel appeared in the court for hearing.

TRICHY: The Perambalur district court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant against DMDK president Vijayakanth for failing to appear before it in connection with a defamation case against him.
Public prosecutor K Kulothungan filed the case against the DMDK leader for his alleged derogatory speech against Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa at a public meeting in Perambalur on August 14, 2012.

Meanwhile, the Madras high court on Wednesday stayed 14 defamation cases against Vijayakanth.
