One year after its Dubai-produced TV drama Parwaaz (Flight) wrapped up, Zee TV is all set to launch another UAE-set drama called Khwabon Ke Darmiyaan (Amidst Dreams). And the network is looking to cast actors locally.

Auditions are being held this weekend, August 12-13, at the International Media Production Zone (IMPZ) in Dubai from 1-7pm. All age groups are welcome from all nationalities for speaking and non-speaking roles, according to Zee TV. “Since the idea is to represent the city of Dubai, we need as diverse a group as possible,” a representative told Gulf News tabloid! “They’ll just have to bear in mind that this is a South Asian production.”

While Parwaaz followed the lives two expats in the UAE, one Pakistani and one Indian, Khwabon Ke Darmiyaan will be set during the 2009 financial downturn. It will tell the story of a Dubai-based real estate tycoon who suffers heavy losses during the downturn and how he finds redemption, with the help of his wife.

Pakistani actor Javed Shaikh, who has starred in a number of Bollywood productions, will play the tycoon. Other lead roles are yet to be cast.

“The show’s story will relate to and inspire non-resident South Asians living in the UAE. It’s a story which gives hope to budding entrepreneurs and hardworking people chasing their dreams in the UAE,” Zee TV said in a statement.

Filming is set to begin on September 15.

Auditions will be held at A-14 at the International Media Production Zone (IMPZ). Call 04-4307786.
