Rs 130 Crore Worth Unaccounted Cash And Investments Found From AAP MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar’s House

Another AAP MLA goes down the drain
After a recent raid at the house of Chattarpur Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar, the Income Tax department reportedly found unaccounted cash and investments worth Rs 130 crore. He has been questioned twice and been previously raided by the IT authorities.

The previous raids have yielded unaccounted cash and jewellery worth almost Rs 1 crore from Tanwar and his brother. However, after the latest raid, the AAP MLA responded saying that it is a conspiracy of the BJP-led Central government. Tanwar was earlier a leader of BJP who had joined AAP in 2014.

Massive hoarding of wealth
According to IT sources, Tanwar and his business associates had bought houses in Chattarpur and Ghitorni in cash during which they did not pay any stamp duty and registration fee on land transactions. Tanwar is also allegedly accused of showing money from land deals as loans and advances in companies he exerts control. He apparently has around 30 to 35 companies that he uses to conduct these transactions. It is reported that he has unaccounted properties, unaccounted expenses of a mall, several residential houses, marriage expenses and farm houses.

Part of a mafia?
In early 2015, Prashant Bhushan had included Tanwar’s name in a list of 12 dubious characters. He rose from a junior engineer to become a man worth over Rs 1,000 crore and was reportedly part of a builder mafia in outer Delhi villages. Delhi CM and also the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal could have earlier taken action against Tanwar. But now it seems the Kejriwal is complacent about his party that came to the front with the message of honest and transparent governance.

The Logical Indian seeks a detailed explanation from AAP on this case and how their internal screening of contenders for MLAs missed such huge illegalities. If proven in the court of law, AAP should apologize to Delhi and the country for misleading the nation in bringing about clean politics.
