Sonam Kapoor calls out singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya for sexist tweet on Shobhaa De

Letting Shobhaa’s tweet aside for a minute, Abhijeet attacked his new target — Sonam. “Yes @sonamakapoor we all r hypocrites bt not the Khandani FILMI type hypocrites nor page3, we r proud of our players,” he wrote. Sonam then took help of emojis to describe her thoughts.

Shobhaa has clarified her tweet. Abhinav Bindra, who replied to her tweet calling it “unfair”, was very close to getting India its first medal. Dipa Karmakar has made it to the individual vault final of artistic gymnastics. Many lashed out at her for being insensitive towards athletes who beat the odds and reached where they are today despite the bad infrastructure on offer for athletes in the country.

Shobhaa later wrote, “Only hope? Dependable Abhinav Bindra. Aim for gold, champion!” She backed it up with, “Official apathy main reason why we fare so poorly during every Olympics, not just Rio. Difficult for athletes to ‘compete’ with this hurdle.”
