Ahmedabad: The teenage love story of Vicky, 16, and Neerja (names changed), 15, natives of Jharkhand and residents of New Delhi, was cut short on Monday by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Kalupur railway station. The lovesick duo was accompanied by another 16-year-old teenager, who was taking them to Gandhidham in Kutch. RPF officials said that the parents of the teenagers have been informed and they will arrive on Wednesday in Ahmedabad to take their wards home.
The teenagers are currently in custody of Childline.
"A team patrolling Kalupur railway station on Monday watched three teenagers get down from Yoga Express (formerly Haridwar Mail) at 5:30 pm. Since one was a girl, security brought in the teenagers for questioning. They revealed that they had boarded the train from Delhi to flee the city and get married," said an RPF official. Shankar Ravidas, inspector of RPF (passenger security) at Kalupur, said that upon inquiry they got to know that the girl's parents had informed Aman Vihar police station in Delhi about the girl's suspected abduction. "A group consisting of Delhi police personnel are expected to reach Ahmedabad on Wednesday," he said.
