Indore : A woman was injured after a mobile phone charger exploded in her hands in Mandsaur district late on Monday. The incident took place around 8 pm when the victim, identified as Ranjana Bairagi, resident of Laduna village in Sitamau tehsil of Mandsaur district was trying to put the charger in the socket to recharge mobile phone battery.
As soon as the woman inserted the charger, it blew off.
Ranjana lost two fingers and a thumb in the incident. She fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital where she was admitted in the intensive care unit.
Doctors confirmed that her fingers could not be reconstructed through surgery. "The upper half portion of the two fingers and a thumb was blew off in the incident," said the hospital authorities at Mewad. Trying to get to the root of the incident, family members are trying to ascertain to which company the charger belonged.
"We heard a sudden noise and as we rushed to see what had happened, we found Ranjana lying on the floor. Her hand was bleeding. The charging socket had also burst," said Shyamdas Bairagi, husband of the victim.
This is first such incident where a blast took place in charger after being connected to the socket. In the other incidents, usually, mobile phones heat up and blast while charging.
The police said that the matter is being investigated; however, a case is yet to be registered.
