After the sudden death of IIT-Kanpur PhD student, Alok Kumar Pandey on Monday, the varsity's director Professor Indranil Manna ordered the formation of a fact finding committee on Tuesday.

The reforms initiated by Joint Admission Board (JAB) of IIT for prestigious Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) have glossed over a couple of key issues.
Kanpur: After the sudden death of IIT-Kanpur PhD student, Alok Kumar Pandey on Monday, the varsity's director Professor Indranil Manna ordered the formation of a fact finding committee on Tuesday. Former director of Laxmipati Singhania Institute of Cardiology (LSIC) Dr SS Singhal who will also be heading the panel, former Head of the department of LSIC Dr Mohammad Ahmad and former principal of GSVM Medical College Dr Rakesh Chandra and medical advisor of IIT Kanpur have been asked to investigate the matter and submit the report within a period of ten days.

Prof Manna said the pnael has been asked to look into aspects such as the sequence of events preceding the death of the student, the cause of death, whether the death was attributable to negligence on the part of any persons or persons, and to recommend measures to avoid ocurrence of such events in future.
The committee has also been asked to interact with all concerned who may have any knowledge related to the incident.
