Deodhar and Wakaskar make merry

Mrunal Deodhar scored 146 (158b, 24x4, 1x6) and Saurav Wakaskar an unbeaten 129 (163b, 16x4) as Railways defeated TNCA XI by nine wickets on day two of the second round Group ‘B’ match of the Kalpathi AGS Buchi Babu all-India invitational cricket tournament here. The pair added 274 for the first wicket.

Hyderabad posts win

In Group ‘C’, Hyderabad posted an 80-run victory over TNCA Districts XI. C. Hari Nishaanth top-scored with 65 (91b, 11x4, 2x6) for Districts XI.

The 160-run fifth-wicket partnership between Sarfaraz Khan (96, 72b, 11x4) and Sandeep Tomar (71, 67b, 12x4, 1x6) proved insufficient as UPCA fell 27 runs short of the target against Chhattisgarh in Group ‘A’. M.S. Sanjay’s four for 40 helped TNCA President’s XI beat Jharkhand by 109 runs. Virat Singh (86, 191b, 7x4) and Ishank Jaggi (58, 119b, 6x4) added 103 for the fourth wicket to help Jharkhand’s cause.
